Getting to the Scottish Borders couldn’t be easier, which might explain why so many people return time and again, season after season.

From Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Carlisle you can be in the Scottish Borders in little more than an hour.

The four major trunk routes through our region are: the A1 in the East, the A7 and A68 in the central Borders and the A697 from the South.

There is a good network of minor roads that lead to other areas within the region, which are all within easy reach of one another.

By rail, the Scottish Borders lies only 8 miles from Berwick upon Tweed station on the main East Coast line, with a regular bus service to all the main towns in the Borders.

The Scottish Borders can be easily reached by air; with Edinburgh, Newcastle and Glasgow International Airports all within 1 to 2 hours travel time.

Once you’re here, getting around is straightforward using our excellent local road network and public transport services.
